Peter Minnig was born on October 1, 1990, in Washington, DC. He lives in Falls Church, VA, and is a Sophomore at Yale University. His academic interests are as wide-ranging as his extra-curricular pursuits, as he enjoys a full range of math, science, and humanities courses. He is also active as a musician. From the time he was a baby, Peter loved to watch Formula One races on TV with his father. He has attended every United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis (and several Grands Prix in Canada), where he’s assembled an interesting autograph collection. Peter's first experience in a racing kart occurred at the XPLEX Las Vegas Motorsport Raceplex when he took a driving school instructed by Matt Jaskol, a multiple karting champion and the 2005 ASA Speed Trucks Series champion. This was the wonderful experience that set Peter’s interest in karting. Peter's first race was on October 20, 2002. His first win came in his fifth start in the Briggs Junior Restricted class at Monrovia Raceway on July 6, 2003. During that first season, Peter scored an impressive five more wins. Peter continued to improve in his second full season, racing with eight wins and a top five at the prestigious Milford Street Race in Delaware. During 2005, Peter was the Maryland Sprint Divisional Champion in the Yamaha Junior SuperCan class with six wins. In 2006, Peter was the Maryland Sprint Divisional Champion in the Senior Yamaha Heavy class with five wins. In 2007, Peter repeated as the Maryland Sprint Divisional Champion in the Senior Yamaha Heavy Class with five wins, plus one win in the Sandy Hook Club Series. 2008 saw Peter's fourth consecutive year putting more Maryland Sprint Divisional Championships under his belt. In 2008, Peter was the title winner in both the Yamaha Lite and Heavy Classes. His career total feature wins stand at over forty. Peter also reached the first leg of the Skip Barber Racing program when he successfully completed the Three-Day Racing School in late August of 2007 at Virginia International Raceway. He completed the Advanced Two-Day School at Homestead-Miami Speedway in January of 2008 and competed in Skip Barber Karting Scholarship Shoot-out at Sebring International Raceway in December of that same year.
